Aluminium vs Stainless Steel Bolts
Hi all,
I bought a used SV recently and have noticed that I'm missing a few of the bolts that hold the fairing in place - nothing major, just a couple of the lower ones. I've had a look about and aluminium replacements seem to be quite a bit cheaper than stainless steel ones (£20 vs £30-40), will they do the job or are the heads just going to round off the first time I try to remove them? I'm assuming that they won't be too conspicuous compared to the other (presumably stainless steel) bolts that I currently have? Is there anywhere to buy reasonably priced individual bolts? |

Re: Aluminium vs Stainless Steel Bolts
You shouldn't be using major torque on the fairing bolts anyway so they shouldn't round off.

Cheapest, most useful by far. You will need the others at some stage no doubt.

Re: Aluminium vs Stainless Steel Bolts
Don't use the crappy aluminium bolts, you only need to look at them wrong and the hex gets rounded off. On something like a fairing that you will be remove occasionally for servicing etc it's a PITA.
