Local knowledge requires
Ay up people,
I'm planning a trip for about 10 bikes to the Peak District National Park. Plan "A" is to leave London at 6pm and get up to the Matlock area by 9pm, then spend all day Saturday and Sunday morning around the park and ride back Sunday lunch time. I could do with some advice on where to stay, roads/places to visit and where to keep away from. Planning to do this some time in May. Any help would be appreciated. . |

If you look on the posts for last years rideout I found and posted a few bike friendly campsites. Alternatively if you find the Derbyshire County Council website it has some good links.
Matlock Bath is the place to go to see bikes but there are some fantastic roads in the area, just watch out for the speed camera vans at the weekends. CHOG |

Yeah, watch the speed cameras and plod in unmarked cars. they even borrow a helicopter sometimes. Its probably no worse than anywhere else though.
If you go to Matlock there are lots of bikes and bikers at any time for advice, bull**** and rideout tips. You also have to "do the cat" And dont forget to call everyone, "me duck" :P |

I lived in Wingerworth for a while (before my biking days) so know about Matlock Bath - the only seaside town without the seaside
As I worked up their I also know about the duck thing, duck You guys are so lucky having such great roads on your doorstep, I've got the M25 . |

May's a good time of year. If you let me know where you end up staying I'll show you some good routes. I think quite a few of us will be up for that
