Gun users

Woah !!! Slow down your horses.

I'm not talking loaded, when you break a shotgun, it automatically leaves the trigger in a cocked state when you close it again, I've bought some snap caps but was wondering what other peeps do, I've googled this and found mixed opinions hence this thread.

I would never store a loaded gun, I also follow etiquette when at the clubs regarding carrying, when out the case it's always broke unless being fired.

Nope and it's in a double locked safe, with no access by anyone else, why?

Lock the gun up, keep the key safe, children no problem, not that mine would have ever dared touch my guns, they only ever saw them unlocked in my presence. As I have said previously cartridges should be in a seperate locked safe, especially if there are other people in the house, when I was single I always found that young men were much worse than children for being interested in guns, and much less understanding of the dangers.

In answer to your actual questions I would go with what spank said, if it's cocked I would imagine the springs would be kept under tension. Keeping in that state would add excessive wear on them. If you can store it without it being cocked that would be better.

Personally I always used snap caps as no way to release strikers otherwise.

It's because no body thought of the children!... if someone owns a gun legally then they sould be fully aware that its illegal to keep it loaded so really the OP is self explanatory and if they didn't own it legally then I highly doubt they'd be putting threads up on public forums that has police as members.

Tbf if I lived in brumingham I'd keep my gun loaded as well.
