Default Anyone into shooting/guns?

Bit of an odd question but does anyone on here participate in shooting sports?
Me and the Mrs have just acquired our shotgun certificates and a very nice 12g shotgun which we use to do clay shooting at Manchester clay pigeon club.

I used to shoot, had a FAC for about 25 years for pistols/rifles. Knee jerk government ruined it for me.

No, but my neighbour is well into it, very experienced (parents are farmers doing it since childhood), and is off clay pigeon shooting in half an hour. Also have a friend I'll be seeing on Friday who's job revolves around game shooting and gun dog breeding. I know squat about it myself, but if you need any questions asking I can ask them.

Think Timwilky is into his shotguns as well.

Yes, still attend the family invites for pheasant. But a bit poor this year, not too many birds.

Thanks Ralph, just looking for recommendations on other clay places to go.

Any advice on cartridges is welcome, currently using Express high velocity (12ga 70mm 7.5shot). They are a budget cartridge I know but is it worth paying more?

Tim, I know what you mean about a knee jerk government, Its not fair on law abiding citizens as they tend to portray innocent people as potential killers just because they have firearms. I have razor sharp Wusthof kitchen knives at home yet I don't go out stabbing people with them!

Nah cheapies are fine unless you're doing championships or something. All technique. You can probably pay half as much again or more for dear ones and get nowhere near the benefit of firing half again as many rounds

I had an auto that didn't like some of the expensive ones, but it would feed the kranks (I think) own brand cheapest stuff all day long. Oh yeah henry kranks gun shop definitely worth a visit.

Not got a shotgun or ticket these days, just sub-12 air rifles, got a nice BSA ultra multi to pop the odd wabbit

I want to get a shotgun license soon, I went clay shooting a few years ago , really enjoyed it and I'm recently in touch with an old mate who's into guns too so fancy getting my own gear and doing it more.

It's not particularly hard or expensive to get into.

If it's not fully automatic, belt fed and high velocity ya can stick it.

Not too much edible meat left on the rabbit if you use one of those :P

Probably quite a satisfying way to thin out a rat population a bit though
