F1 fault
Hi all, I have had my 2016 Sv650 just a few weeks, after washing it a few days back I noticed the engine management light on with a flashing F1 code.
The bike rides fine and I parked it up. Today I went out to see if it had ‘fixed’ itself and again I noticed not a lot wrong with the ride, however the display is not showing me ever being in 6th gear even though I am. Mechanically it’s fine! However is this issue known to anyone? I’m totally sure it’s my stupid fault for washing it probably but I wasn’t to know...... appreciate any help here, I’m so sad. Did you use a pressure washer?

Re: F1 fault
Chances are you've forced water in where it shouldn't be.

Re: F1 fault
It has reported two different faults, so it sounds like water in the electrics. It might dry out (and the problem go away) - if you have somewhere dry but well ventilated to store the bike that might work, a hair dryer might work as well?

Re: F1 fault
There is an error code for gear sensor but you would need to put it in dealer mode to read it. I don't think that entering dealer mode has changed from earlier models:
https://tinyurl.com/y3vegm5e (this explains more but is on a GSXR) https://www.suzuki-forums.net/index....d-dealer-mode/ edit: The error code for the gear sensor is C31 "Gear position voltage is lower than specified value" (C00 = no error) If it's a UK bike isn't it still just under Suzuki warranty, my 2016 came with a 3 year warranty although I don't know if that is transferable. Re: F1 fault
Pressure washers and vehicles are not made for each other. High pressure water can do a lot of damage to electrics and also force water past bearing seals, and even damage paint and underseal. I never use anything other than garden hose on cars, and bike never gets dirty enough to need a wash....

Re: F1 fault
Yep figuring that now. Where are the electrics and connector for the gear shift indicators? Maybe I unplug and blow out, then leave in the sun? As said it’s fine mechanically so has to be this!

Re: F1 fault
Check water hasn't got in under the seat and into the diagnostics connector (blanked off with rubber cap... the same that you use to get into "dealer mode").
I'd get it out to sit in the sun for a bit with as many panels, seat etc off and tank raised too if you can. Hope that any water that's got in may evapourate with the good weather we're having right now.

Re: F1 fault
The gear position sensor is situated under the front sprocket cover, it sits below sprocket. The connector sits under the tank near the left frame rail, looks like it has 3 pins and is roughly triangular in shape.
