Re: The running thread.
Finally made it out for a run.
Had a bit of a detour which added to the length of the run, as there was forestry work going on in the piece of woodland I would normally come through. The detour was a long climb up a series of bends through a fantastic area of recently planted native woodland. I stopped for a chat with a guy who is working for the trust doing the planting and he told me that this is being managed purely for wildlife and environmental reasons, and is part of nearly 1000 acres of such woodland. He said that aside from the removal of a number of existing conifers and their replacement with more native species, they will not be felling anything and the woodland will be allowed to do what woodland would naturally do. There are some fantastic running opportunities on the tracks and trails through this, so I shall be exploring more of it over the coming months and years. The rain held off but the ground is so waterlogged now with lots of standing water, and the river up over a short section of the footpath at one point. Great to be out there again though. Re: The running thread.
First dark run of the season for Mabel and me in company with a canicross friend, Karen, and her husky, Max. We were going to do the route I did yesterday, but I decided to give the climb up the hairpins a miss as the loose, stoney surface just looked a bit iffy in the dark, and I didn't wan't any accidents! Great run though, if a little muddy in places.
I'm going to try and do one of these each week as a Powys Canicross social run, see if we can build up an evening running group. Running out here after dark is glorious with pretty much no light pollution. The relive bit |

Re: The running thread.
I've joined an 8-week course the running club is ... running, "Race With Striders", mostly to encourage me to go out running more consistently. So far, both evenings have been terrible weather, but I got out and they were both really good fun, so it's working.
Strangely, on both evenings, trains back from London were knackered too, but I don't do trains any more! |

Re: The running thread.
Had physio on the outside of my left knee a few months ago and have been doing the exercises I was told to do but now I'm getting pain on the inside of my left knee.
Will see what the physio says on Tuesday morning

Re: The running thread.
So I got new scales that tell you your BMI and body fat percentage etc.
I'll see if it improves the more I run. I'm also going to be working the next 3 weekends which means 0 drinking. That should help improve things as well. 75.85kg 24.2 BMI 17.3% body fat 7 visceral fat 59.59kg muscle mass metabolic age is 31 and I am 33. Apparently the ideal physical body age is 2/3 of the actual age. So I've got a long way to go there |
