Unhappy Due to the high price of petrol I have decided to give up

Brakes
It's just lazy and unnecessary to use them.
oh and that goes for changing down unnecessarily to increase engine breaking - that's just cheating.
Forward observation & planning is much improved, & I am really enjoying having another focus to my riding rather than just getting everywhere AFAP.
Plus I can still enjoy accelerating to get past a hazard instead of braking before the hazard.

Once I've mastered it I will move on to actually braking to maintain momentum (slow down earlier for traffic lights so that you are still moving as they change to green).

I don't mind people knowing I got a speeding ticket, but I don't see how it is relevant to this thread

Just wondering if the ticket had more of an effect on not getting everywhere AFAP, and then you decided to brake less

TBH the effect the ticket had soon wore off 3 in 40,000 miles means the chances are you are not going to get caught (touch wood) and each of those 3 times I was being extra silly. But I am trying to keep my observations up, and my extra silliness down.

Good luck. Just don't forget to brake when you need to. I started pulse riding and got 180 miles from a tank (as opposed to 150). Pulse riding is accelerate a bit then clutch in and coast. Also coasting down hills. Just don't try it on corners.

I do that in the car but I've always held out there's more to life than doing it on a bike

Yep, there is. But I was so broke I had to eek the mpg out. Back to normal heavy right handed riding now.
