Re: My new toy
Not at the moment Geo. I doubt I'd ever find the parts to do it again. I am uprating the suspension, but that's it for the time being

Re: My new toy
Looks very tidy that.
Is there much noticeable difference in ride between the naked curvy and Gladius? |

Quote:
The suspension on Gladys is firmer & you can throw it around to your hearts content, it's also supplied with Dunlop Qualifiers as standard, which also helps & the handlebars are a little too wide. You tend to find that at speed it makes it's head wobble. I fitted the little screen & it has transformed it. Handling wise, the Gladius, in the right hands, around some twisties would certainly keep up with & maybe embarrass some larger bikes, it feels planted around the bends & does put a smile on your face. I choose the SV every morning to ride to work on, so that tells you a lot about it. I am a massive fan of the naked SV, that's why I bought the Gladys (plus the lure of £1 down & £100 per month interest free for 4 years) because, at the time, I worked 20 miles from home & wanted something reliable & cheap to run. I can now see it sitting in my yard & not turning a wheel as I have fallen for another 17 year old bike, which speaks volumes for the old SV

Re: My new toy
Bit of an update. Seeing as I have no projects to play with at the moment, I have started tidying my curvy up.
I've had it for nearly 9 months & haven't used 3 tanks of fuel yet. I'm hoping that the Gladius may go on Saturday as I have somebody that has shown an interest & is coming to view it. The Sv has slowly had some love & affection shown to it while she's been sat in the shed. 1st off I fitted a ZX6 rear shock & K-tech front springs to stiffen the ride slightly. Also removed the hugger & fitted the standard chain gaurd. Found an absolute bargain on Ebay about 15 miles from me. A really good undertray in red, which I painted & fitted. £16 Got another Ebay bargain. Bellypan for 20 odd quid. Had to make my own brackets, but it's no hardship. Made my own tail tidy out of some aluminium I found in the shed. Over the past few days I've turned my attention on cleaning all of the rust off it & got rid of the bloody awful rim tape.

Re: My new toy
Really am messing about with this SV as I didn't know which way to roll with it. Seeing as it's my one & only bike (other than my little GN125 that's in a bit of a sorry state) I have decided to put it back to OE condition. You don't see that many SV's around these days that are completely stock & I have a feeling that this will be one of my last bikes, so it'll be a keeper.
I have taken off the ZX6 rear shock, cleaned & refitted my stock one. I have dry fitted the uncut rear mudgaurd, so am now going to take the whole subframe off, derust it, paint it, then refit it. I have bought an uncut exhaust system off Ebay and am hoping it's in pretty good condition as you can't really tell off the pictures, so can't wait for it to arrive to see. I'll also contemplate wether to remove the bellypan & bikini fairing as I do like the look of it with them on.
