suspension problems.
I have just received my forks back after having a cartridge system fitted (k4). I fitted them last night but when i was setting up the sag i was only getting 12mm instead of the 20-30mm as advised and I have the adjusters full out.
I took the bike for a run last night on smooth roads its class but once it hits bumps it feels skittish and unsettled. It was even threatening to tank slap me a few times. I will be contacting the company who did the forks but was wondering has anyone else suffered from problems after fitting cartridges or could it be as simple as the sag not being right. Cheers |

Which cartridges, or do you mean emulators? Could be the settings, or could be they've not cut the spacer tube down by the thickness of the cartridge/emulator. What weight oil has been used?

I had either K-tech or ohlins cartridges fitted. By an ohlins Ireland agent.
5Wt oil is used according to the spec sheet. I'll phone shortly and see what he says. cheers |

Neither Ohlins or Ktec make a cartridge specifically for the SV650. They have possibly used an R6 20mm kit and grafted it into the forks in which case 5w or 10w oil is used.
TBH this is a long route and expensive route to go to get your SV forks to work better. The emmulators and springs option works very well and is alot more simple. |

Having spoken to the agent, he reckons that if I remove a nylon spacer at the top of each fork should cure it. Heres hoping. This will cure the sag problems and should soften the ride.
I didnt realise that about the cartridges. I just assumed that because I went to him I would be getting ohlins or ktech brands. |

Various oils, different springs and adjustments where made but they couldn't get the handling to my liking. I had either to much dive under braking so when that was cured I had to much rebound they couldn't find a happy medium. Cartridges were the next and only option left as they are alot easier to adjust and set up. |
