Default The Lakes

since i have only been to the lakes a handfull of times i'm not too familiar with them so does anyone know any good cafe's in the top end of the lake district?

also what to see... anything special i should look out for.

the filling station in Keswick isn't bad, good fryup of local produce, and a few decent chip shops with local fish in Whitehaven, as to roads, well the Hardknott on to Wrynose Pass and down to Ulpha is pretty good but watchout for traffic as cars tend to go slowly and some places you don't want to stop (angle of the road).

ahhh yes the filling station.. thanks rictus. wont be going over as far as the hardknot i'll be going in via penrith after then down the kirkstone and taking the wee road over to ambleside then up to keswick then down the honister then up to the A66 for a we bit to take the direction of the B5299 to carlisle. might get to the filling station for around T time.

I like the Filling Staion. There's also the cafe at the Honister slate mine and a nice cafe at Grange which is a mile or two detour.
