Default How to clean windows?

Times gone by a chap used to come round with a wooden ladder, bucket of mucky water and a leather. After giving him a fiver and a bit of banter he'd spend 30 mins and the windows would sparkle for the next few weeks.

Now window cleaning seems to have gone hi-tech, requiring a ghostbusters van, two guys and miles of pipework. The cost runs at an hourly rate similar to a high court barrister, the results are disgraceful.

I'm up for a bit of exercice, does anyone have the secret on how to clean windows like an old time professional?

Squirt on "Windolene" and then dry off with old newspaper.

This is not a joke - this is the way to do it.

its all in the wrist

once the windows have been washed, you need to get rid of all the soapy water on the glass, with one of those rubber thingys, this is where the skill & years of practise come in........... as you must do it in such a way as not to leave any streaks

i have mastered this skill over many years cleaning the windows in the butchers i used to work in

I dont use windolene, just old fashioned soap and water applied with a lint free cloth. I do polish up with newspaper. Can't beat it for that streak-free finish...

Now then...... Scrubbing the front steps.......!!!!

Stupid question, but doesn't the ink from the newspaper mark the glass?
