Default Request for witnesses (NW3 accident)

All,

Jason has asked for any witnesses to his accenident on the ST1100 last Saturday afternoon for insurance purposes.

I'd rather keep things off the forum that may reflect on the outcome of his insurance claim, so please can anyone willing to be a witness drop me a PM with the following:
- A brief description of what you saw. I'm sure Jason will want more details later, but for now, brief details will help a lot.
- A brief description of your own riding just before the accident (from when we left Davy Jones' Locker in Barmouth really). This will help Jason build a picture of how the back of the group were riding, and make comparisons between himself & the group easier.
- A contact phone number you can be reached on, and an email address if possible.

At this stage, it's probably worth me noting that the police do not consider the road conditions or an excess of speed to be a factor in his accident.

I know full well what the rear of the group were doing as I was TEC at the time, but unfortunately for Jason, I didn't see the accident. Jason is just really after a witness (or a few) to the accident itself.

Thanks.

I've been up to see Jason today (albeit briefly - I was enroute to work), and I've seen the Pan this morning too. This seemed the best place to give everyone a little update to things

The bike isn't pretty. The front end looks like it took a heafty beating, taking heavy damage to the front mud guard and fairing. The result is a nasty looking right bar (bent back & inwards) and a completely warped front subframe. I also suspect that the forks are bent. The rear end is pretty undamaged, as are the sides.

There are some pretty heavy marks in the path, which I think are due to the pegs, although they're actually undamaged. It seems that the SV pedals break just by looking at them, but you can damage a Pan pretty seriously and the pegs get back up for another beating.

The bike is now pretty much in the hands of the insurer (in terms of outcome), but I reckon it's probably a write off.

As for Jason himself, I think most folks now know that his right shoulder is in a bad way, and he's got a few broken ribs. He's told me today that he's having reconstructive surgery on Friday for his shoulder as there's no chance it'll heal itself.

All in all, he seems well, and will mend in time, even if he may set off metal detectors.

Thanks to all those that have contacted me by PM to offer support as requested above. Your details will be passed on to him when I sort the photo's out that I took today.

Thanks for the update Baph. Sounds like it is a lot more nasty than I first thought.

Sorry to hear that things are so much worse than we first thought... please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery, would say give him a hug from me but that might hurt him too much!

That's a bit of a sore point at the moment, as I'm sure you can imagine.

Instinctivley his parents wanted him to sign himself out of the hospital and transfer by car, but when they found out he had broken ribs that was ruled out in case anything happened on the journey.

Then the hospital said initially that they weren't going to operate, and would transfer him instead, but warned that he may need to see a specialist for anything to be done about his shoulder.

That's now been overturned, and they've agreed to do his shoulder operation at Bangor, and then post op they'll look at transferring him, which could in itself take a couple of weeks.

My understanding of it (though I may be wrong) is that basically his shoulder has got worse as he's been sat in bed, pretty much turning from 4 fractures into a shoulder blade in pieces as it's pulled apart. Ouch.

Oh poor Jason.

Sounds a lot worse than we thought initially. And being away from home doesn't help either.

Thanks for keping us informed Baph. You're a star for all you've done to help Jason and his family. The world needs more people like you.

Pass on my sincere best wishes to Jason.

Thats really bad, really bad

if it does turn out he comes home oop north then I'm more than willing to visit him, mind you I think he'd probably be better off in wales as my experience of Halifax hospital with bike accident injuries isn't a good one

It's completely selfish honestly. I could do with the Karma boost. Besides, I'm sure that should the same ever happen to me on a org rideout (have an off & be stuck in hospital miles from home), that some kind sole on here would do the same for me.

Maybe that's why he wants to go to Huddersfield?

I'll pass on all your wishes when I next talk to him.
