Osram Nightbreakers are the norm to upgrade my SV's lights.

Not sure about the Gladius

Heat and power sapping.
Your need to upgrade the harness and fit relays to save the OE wiring and switches.
Go for Philips or osram night breakers.
But upping the loom would improve the stock performance anyway

I see what you mean when you say uprated wiring is needed.
Both feed wires to headlight aren't much more than telephone wires. The earth isn't too bad as it has the load of two filaments if the pass switch is operated.
I did plug in a 100/80w bulb, which works reasonable but in the dark it was noticeable that the main beam was slow lighting up. when I put a meter on without engine running the battery delivered 12.7v with no load and switched on was 11.98v.measured on battery. At the headlight I only got 10v under load, near as dam it 2v drop. Bad that. I tried the standard 60/55w bulb and main beam wire showed.10.9v under load. Still not particularly good. Maybe I will put some better wiring in and hope that helps.
Looks as if a pair of relays under the seat and a length of 'cooker wire' would get me full voltage.
I am running on an Osram night rider bulb anyhow. this is the one they recommend for motorbikes. Night breakers are for cars and according to them are not as vibration resisting.

Any body want a new (2014 reg) Sv650.
Wheels at Peterborough has a white one Pre reg with 0 miles for £3995.
Saw it at little bike show at Springfields at Spalding on Sunday. Looks a bargain to me and looking at their web site they have it on a deal working out at about 20 quid a week on never-never.
I am not anything to do with them but just thought there could be someone interested.

Not bad at all, don't think the Mrs would let me have a third bike though

I should be getting second bike next month. Like you Mark, going orange.
Just going for an old 400 as I am going to IOM with some mates in a van and they take off-roaders and travel to some of the out of normal reach parts over there. Should be good. Been 45 years thinking about going.
My Gladius is still going nice so no thought of getting rid of yet. Had it a year now and done almost 8000 on it.
