Default SV front calipers in the dishwasher?

OMO

Got myself a spare set of front calipers for overhaul so that I can rotate with the set on the bike during the winter salt season.
Was going to strip down and give them a blast in the dishwasher once domestic management has gone to bed
Do the experienced overhaulers on here advise against using a dishwasher tablet during the wash cycle due to salt content or is it OK ?
I'll obviously be going down the dremmel route for the detail work in the seal grooves etc.

I had a search but couldn't find definitive advice either way.

Cheers.

i have never tried it but i suppose one of those bleach free machine cleaning tablets would do the trick just nicely. you could even say to the other half 'the dishwasher was a bit smelly so i put one of those cleaning tabs threw', voila clean callipers and brownie points all in one go.

The tabs contain salt so I never did because of how it reacts with Aluminium. I also made sure that the salt tray was empty. However I knackered my dishwasher in the end. Nothing since can get bike parts that clean.

I wonder if my neighbour will let me put my bikes swing arm in her dishwasher?

Don't worry about salt - your calipers are hardly going to dissolve away to nothing in the duration of a dishwasher cycle are they? It will be fine, possibly ineffectual, but just fine.
Personally I find Tesco's own brand cream cleaner to be about as effective a cleaner as anything - and significantly cheaper. Be careful when scraping out the seal grooves, don't gouge the aluminium or the caliper will be scrap.

Why not just use brake cleaner?

'Cos it's a great degreaser, (an expensive one mind) but not much good at cleaning brake dust, old dried fluid or hardened grime.
Brake cleaner is a specific cleaner for friction surfaces, but not terribly effective and wasted elsewhere.
