This is the speedo... http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/kos...ack-1251-p.asp Yeah was easy enough to fit with the instructions it comes with and a Haynes manual to hand. I don't think the gps dropping out in a tunnel will be much of an issue, would just sit behind another driver and hope they aren't speeding I guess!

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Not much happening with the SV at the mo. Mostly waiting for the daylight to lengthen and the temperature to rise! Itching to get out on the bike in some dry weather.
So in the mean time i tallied up all that I've spent on the bike so far. Maybe it can help others with costing their projects, maybe not. The list is more for myself than anything but figured Id share it anyway. Considering what the bike has become and how much i love it, Id say its a bargain (to me anyway!)

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
You should never total up what you spend on a bike.
However in this instance it looks quite reasonable! |

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Picked up this set of virtually new Pirelli Rosso Corsa's last week for a grand total of £10! The guy i bought them off bought a new bike, got a nail in rear within a week so changed both for another new set! The puncture on the rear is dead centre of the tread and been mushroom plugged so should be alright. Either way, £10 for the front alone is an absolute bargain
Need to get that front wheel sprayed to match the rear too. Also, treated myself to a gopro hero5 session to use for my commute to work when the weather improves (as well as for DH mtb and bmx). I always wear a backpack to work so will have it mounted to one of the should straps which works really well. Not a fan of helmet mounted cams. I've also got my first track day booked for the beginning of April so wanna add a few mounts to capture some different angles throughout the day. I also want them as discreet as possible. One angle i definitely want is on the tail looking forward, and its not exactly a discreet place to have a mount when a cam isnt attached! So i got myself a surf mount (which has a circular base) and chopped it down a bit. The white certainly looks abit bettter than black on my white stripes. Few pics below...

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
I would also recommend the ball joint type of mount for the session. It allows you to angle the view so you dont have to end up with 2 hours of "butt" footage

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Good shout. I plan on adding a few other mounts around the bike to move the cam about throughout the day. Was thinking one on the top yoke or under the bottom yoke, one hanging off the swingarm. Maybe one under the tail looking backwards. Any other suggestions for good viewing??

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
A gyrocam, ho ho ho!
I saw a fella use his gopro on the swing arm. After the 20minute session he showed me how the track had ground thru the plastic case and into the camera itself. ooops!

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Been thinking on and off for awhile now about making a lower fairing for the sv, so sketched something up.
I'm thinking something like this. Will have a nice mesh to fill between the rad and fairings too. Thoughts? Hoping this will add a nice bit of shape to the front end and compliment the tail end too, whilst hiding that not-so-pretty engine/manifold!

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
imho looks a bit incomplete without a headlight fairing.
Also too many straight lines. Additionally, if you can draw like that, who needs reality?
