Re: Smoking
Ah ok then, disconnect the connector from the temp sensor, you can just about see the temp sensor lead in this picture (the RC36 is very similar) where it goes into the thermostat 'bottle' in between the tube to the thermostat and front engine mounting.
Now turn on the ign and connect the connector to earth, the temp gauge should flick to max temp, if it does not then you either have a wiring or gauge fault. If it does then you have a faulty sensor or not enough coolant! Druid

Re: Smoking
Same brakes as mine then, bit of TLC and they work a treat, use genuine honda pads, part no 45105-ML7-405 make sure you grease the slider pins, use red rubber grease.
Guttingly pads used to be £12.50 a set, now they are £17 http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk are good for bits, not sure exactly which year that one is, 91? Anyway something like http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/part_80967/ Druid

Re: Smoking
You have everything vfr dont you!
My plan as the front discs are pretty warn is to replace with some of the nice ol blade ones as they are all interchangeable, but that can wait as the pads are fine for now just need to stop the binding then tis rideable. |

Re: Smoking
£89 per disk for new genuine ones.
IIRC the blade ones are *not* interchangable, that's the later VFR with floating discs where you can fit the 17" wheel to the blade. Druid

Re: Smoking
Very nice looking, of course you bought the lardy slow touring version rather than the best version.
Looking at that it has a motad silencer, does it have the downpipes too? Its expensive if they rot but the motad ones are stainless and last for ever, figure on ~£300 + labour for new downpipes at some point if they haven't been replaced. Druid
