Re: Smart phones
I can't understand the "I must have the latest & greatest" mentality of some people. I have been using a Chinese Android phone for years, I've just "Upgraded" to a £120 Honor 7X. It's made by Huawei who seem to be at the forefront of technology at the moment, but far cheaper with the same features as their expensive own brand phones. The camera is brilliant, it surfs the internet, it's pretty fast 4GB & has lots of internal storage 64GB. Oh & you can make telephone calls on it too...... Amazing! And it looks just like the one in your picture
Why people pay stupid amounts of money to be with the "In crowd" gets me, save your money & buy a cheapy

Re: Smart phones
I bought my Sony Xperia X Compact outright and got a monthly sim deal. My screen is only 4.5 inch as I didn't want a huge slab in my pocket that might be easy to bend. Does all I need and probably more that I don't need. I don't see the point of spending upwards of £50 a month on a new phone. The only reason I upgraded from my Xperia T was that the OS wasn't going to be updated anymore and it wasn't 4g.

Re: Smart phones
Yes they all look the same, since the iPhone really. There used to be some really clever designs but no more.
As for latest and greatest, some people are showy and some really do have "spare money". Apparently it exists

Re: Smart phones
Also, marketing bs - they probably couldn't think of anything else to say, and you can't be sued for an aesthetic opinion.

Re: Smart phones
The Chinese have no doubt benefited from the USA ( amongst others) having their phones ( and lots of other stuff ) built by Chinese companies for peanuts while the phone companies like Apple do not pass savings on to customers ( pocket the difference as Asda say) - this unthinking 'transfer of technology' by greedy companies has resulted in the China we have today, probably the biggest threat to world stability with their military posturing and dreams of an empire. China is however very reliant on US market ( whatever they say ) and demographics are against them, they will soon reach the Lewis turning point at around 2025, at which point its labour force will decline, wages will have to rise and their exports will drop ( as they already are, and when a country has to rely on home consumption the balance of payments and national debt inevitably go the wrong way). It is hard to avoid Chinese stuff but I try to as best I can.......

Re: Smart phones
Yes phones pretty much look the same these days, much as a lot of "consumer" goods. Have a look at the silhouette of a mid-size hatchback and compare it to another of a similar size - they look the same! Take the badges off and hide any distinctive bits like the front grille and a Focus looks like an Astra, like an i30....

Re: Smart phones
Oh yeah, pull apart an iPhone and it's mostly built by Samsung.
