Recommend me: A good quality sleeping bag
For camping in a tent - if it says 3 or 4 seasons, would it be too thick for camping in summer? Every sleeping bag I've ever had never seems to have kept me warm, even when using a 2 season bag at the height of summer inside a small 3 man tent I've woken up shivering through the night at times...
Also I've heard people mention a sleeping bag liner - is this a similar idea to a pillow case in that it keeps in the inside of your sleeping bag clean but the liner is easier to wash? Or is this designed for extra warmth when it's super cold? Thinking 3 seasons as an absolute minimum so that in summer I can always wang my bag open and hang out.. Thanks in advance, p

I've got a snugpak kestrel, which is great and packs up really small. Never been cold in it, and sort of good mid price type.

Snugpak are good for sure. My lad used to work in Go Outdoors in York Paul, I'll ask him what they do that is good. Be later tonight though....
One thing though, when you say all your sleeping bags have been cold... do you use a good sleeping mat that provides some thermal insulation from the ground? Airbeds are not so good at this, so I use a Therma-Rest which really helps keep you toasty. |

I always pack a cheapo supermarket duvet. OK they can be a bit bulky (although if you use one of those vacuum pack bags they do go really small), but guaranteed to keep you warm on top of your sleeping bag.

I'll have a look for snugpak, did find a vango nitestar 450 which is listed as good down to 1 degree C and is a good size so I won't feel like I'm in a straight jacket again..

Re: Recommend me: A good quality sleeping bag
I take a hot water bottle or shove some of those air activated hand warmers down the bottom of the bag to keep my feet warm. And take some PJs and soft socks rather than relying on what I have already been wearing under leathers.
Better still find someone to snuggle up to. Who doesn't snore!
