Multi bike or single bike insurance?

I currently have the SV and the GS insured fully comp with Hastings, 6 years NCD protected on a multibike policy, pillion cover on the GS and not for the SV. Now I've just had my renewal at £200.

However, if I go onto the comparison sites and do them as 2 separate policies it comes in at £89 for the GS and £84 for the SV. Cheaper still if I were to do the SV TPFT as it is SORN'd at present.

So I'm trying to work out why a supposedly 'cheaper if you insure more than one bike with us' policy is coming in more expensive. I get that they are covering 2 bikes if they were to both get stolen from my locked garage or the house burnt down, but I can only ride one at a time and it's one lot of legal cover.

Any advice?

IIRC, your ncb can only be used on one bike when taking out separate policies, whereas going multi bikemail they are on all bikes covered on the policy.

I could be wrong, but CN explained it along those lines when I had three bikes to insure, and the Raptor was causing a little headache with expensive insurance.
Not that it matters now, as all my personal bikes are now covered under multi bike classic insurance, which is pennies.

I believe you are not able to apply NCD on 2 separate policies. So you'd effectively have no NCD on one bike. I might be wrong though

Yep, I had the same problem when I got my BFR, couldn't add it to the GSXR policy and it was £400 more with no no claims, had to wait for the GSXR policy to expire then take a new multi bike policy.

I'd give my left testicle for my SV insurance to be £84.

I am always a little wary of on line quotes, as you can't speak to someone and make sure you know what your getting and they know what modifications have been done to your bike.
I recently received my renewal through, I too have an Sv, and a GS (take it you mean Beemer) and the renewal had gone up by about £100.
I decided to get a quote from them for just the SV, which is quite heavily modified, and they still wanted £200 just for that, after dropping the annual mileage down and adding the bm back on it came out at £208.
I do have a VFR that hasn't turned a wheel in ten years, and was told I could add that at a later date, at not much extra cost.

IME they're a wasteofookintime and all end up being more expensive than 2 policies, think they're meant for lazy people who don't want to do job twice.

Same with various "6 wheel" policies offered.
