Re: Can you help with an weird electric problem?
So, after a lot of checking of the loom, I am still no closer to a fix.
Is there anywhere on the internet where I can find a wiring diagram which includes the voltage drops expected at certain points along the loom? I found that the clutch switch is working the opposite way to how its meant to work. On a good system, the relay switch voltage drops to nothing as you activate it. On mine, it goes up to 10v. I'm assuming I have a bad earth somewhere so I am also wondering which earth leads are likely to be duff. Any advice would be very welcome! thanks |

We've been talking politics for the last couple of days so bear with us. I'm assuming the problem you're referring to is the starter issue and not the headlamp issue? This diagram may help, it's from the pointy manual and shows the starter interlock cct: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/80...age=383#manual (I'm assuming you haven't knocked the kill switch, that the fuel pump is priming with ignition on and the engine isn't cranking) Backtracking slightly (it's early) - the starter was working until you removed the fairing and reseated a connector, now the headlight works but the starter doesn't? I think I would retrace my steps, reseat/clean each connector. |

Same. I'd pull the connector apart that you fixed and see what readings and results are elsewhere without the headlights block connected.
Then a process of pulling other blocks apart under the tank to see the results. Personally I'd also be checking wiring around the ignition switch and pulling wirings around to see if anything turned on / off ... expecially the big loom that goes under the bars to the headlights connector.

Really appreciate the replies, and looking through the wiring diagram, I see where I might have created a bad earth.
Let's hope it stops raining soon so I can go out and check it all out! |
