Well, teh Z6s were taken off after 12,000 miles - the rear was badly squared.
On went the Road Attacks - 1,000 miles under the belt now. The writing on the tread has gone but the feel is good. I did get the rear to break free the other morning, but I was hooning a bit and pushing my luck under braking at the time (testing the tarmac of course!) The test continues... |

Now got about 8,000 on them.
The rear is starting to square but not badly enough to notice on the road. I suspect I can get another 3,000 at least out of it. Which is good - I calculated my costs on 8,000 - 9,000 per pair of tyres at £200 a pair - I am now looking at 11,000 to 12,000 per pair - a saving of about £300 over 3 years!! The front is looking good. I was a little cautious about the fact that the front was a very flat profile, but it works well. The front will last alot longer than the rear. The cost was eventually higher than the £168 I had hoped for, but I have got a got deal of value from them, Do they break away? Only if I am acting the idiot! |

Now have 10,000miles on the Road Attacks.
The front looks about half way through it's life. The rear is on it's last few miles - not quite as long lasting as the Z6s - though I have been riding a bit harder. The rear is squared with about 1mm on the centre. (Motorways kill these things) I will be happy enough to change just the rear Road Attack for another - I still like how they turn in, the front is great! At 32,000 miles total however, it looks like the chain and sprockets need replacing despite the scottoiler. (How tight do I sound?) I was shocked when I was quoted for a service the other day (normally I do them myself) My god, I must have saved a fourtune over 32,000 miles. The guy said I HAD to have the shims checked, I asked how often he actualled altered them - "Never, but it extends the life if you check them" I like the idea. I cheked my headlamps were working this morning - that has just extended their life too! I'll keep you guys updaed ont eh Road Attack front test as it continues!! |

I wore out my rear Road Attack after 5000 miles the front lasted only 2000 miles more.
Now on Avon Storm ST's. The perfect winter commuting tyre. Or so I am told. I thought the Road Attacks were good in the wet but they have nothing on the Storms. Outstanding wet weather tyre. Deep tread pattern and alledged to have a long life span because of it. We shall see. 500 miles in so far.

Thread revival!
Just getting the tyres changed today. I've had BT021 on for the last 15,600 miles. Getting a bit short of tread. |
