Default Chrome and pop ups

A few months ago I read that Google were changing Chrome in a way that would deliberately make ad blockers less effective:

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/w...r-to-block-ads

I'm guessing it has now been implemented because I'm starting to see ads where previously they had been blocked, I use ublock origin as my blocker. Normally with ublock you right click on an ad and say "block element" and it will overlay a pink tint to show what you're going to block but that now seems inoperative on some ads.

I also use Firefox so I tried loading the same site and the ads did get blocked. I run Win7 and 10.

Anyone else notice a change?

Hard to tell I've got a pi-hole DNS server so ads never get resolved anyway add OpenVPN when your away from home for an ad free life.

I use AdBlock plus in Chrome on a Chromebook and an Xubuntu laptop. No change to anything as far as I can see.
