Default Science Museum: Pets power products

I was at the museum yesterday. There was on display at the Dan Dare and the Future area, which I found rather odd.

The display was the "Pets power products". And you'd be wrong for imagining that it's a dog generating energy by means of treadmill. But I think that the boffins had just been watching the Matrix.

The stand indicated that we could use bacteria and harness the energy they create by feeding off blood to power household items. There was a picture on the stand of a small girl who'd removed her pet hamster from it's hutch and was popping it into some bizarre grinder so she could watch TV.

But the oddest thing was the radio that was hooked up to a bag of blood. The blood bag was in the shape of a rabbit.

I stood gawping at that exhibit for ages whilst children all around me were crying.

I need to go back and take photos - I took one but my mickey mouse camera phone, instead of saving it, took another picture of my feet and saved that instead. Hmph.

How do they get energy from the pets?

Seems pretty impossible. Like the stuff the boffins in the 70's thought we'd have now

I know - I was horrified/fascinated by it. You have to wonder about the mind of someone that comes up with stuff like that.

Sounds a tad macabre what an odd thing to have in that museum.
