Night Night Bike
That's my bike off the road now for winter. I can't enjoy these greasy roads and low, blinding sun. Also I don't like wearing loads of layers of clothes, makes me feel remote and like I cant move. Even at the weekend there, all I did was put my winter gloves on and I couldn't stand it. Couldn't get any feedback from the front and felt like I wasn't in complete control. It's just me, I just don't feel 100% in the winter conditions, so it messes everything up, I feel like I'm going to panic and make a stupid mistake. So I'd rather wait till the good weather comes again.
And the bike is already suffering from the salt! Plus I'm needing a new front tyre and I don't want to put it on because I'm getting a new wheel anyway. So my job over the next few weeks is to properly clean the bike, especially the engine. I've got some "S Doc 100 Motorcycle cleaner powder gel", which is meant to be very good at cleaning up the engine etc. The panels will be going in for a spray, and I've got new forks to fit. I bought some of that Briggs & Stratton Fuel Additive to keep everything tip top |

Re: Night Night Bike
The countryside is even nicer in the winter than it is in the summer, you just have to be more reserved with the old throttle hand and lean angles. It suprises me how much more you see and enjoy riding at a slower pace.
Bimble about and wash the salt off with COLD water and job done. Not seen any gritters down this way yet. |

Re: Night Night Bike
When did winter start and the salt go on the roads?
Roads are no worse just now than a few weeks ago where I am and its very mild. It's 14-5 degrees here today and the weather for the weekend is dry. Did I miss something? EDIT: Just spoke with Mike. The gritters have not been out anywhere in Tayside yet. Last edited by stuartyboy; 31-10-07 at 01:59 PM. Reason: ... |

Re: Night Night Bike
They have noe been out down here either, although i have spotted them out preparing.
On another note i have had frost on my car twice this month, so effectively they could have been out. |

Re: Night Night Bike
Yeh yeh I'm a fair weather biker I don't care
I don't enjoy it, so why do it?!!! And trust me there is deffo salt out, there was salt on the exhaust and rear end when I washed it at the weekend. A lot of the country roads have been gritted. Reliably informed today that they have started gritting in Perth, so Dundee can't be far behind.... |

Re: Night Night Bike
I was a fair weather biker for 10 years. There's no shame in it...
