Help I'm broken down! - SV650.org

Ok well if anyone sawmy previous thread would know I've a **** battery ... I've just gone to get a new one ... Not fitted yet and the dam thing on the ride home cuts out while riding! I've rolled her to a safe spot and checked what the alarm says ... She won't start ... The alarm is a Datatool 3 and as such is annoying but it won't go into service mode which means there nothing coming from the ignition. Is there anything I can do to get her going.

She's a new bike to me only done 300 miles on her. But should I try and see if she'll jump start I have the cables. I'm broken down on Dartmoor on a sunny day so it could be worse I guess

Please help

You get on and I'll push!

Sorry, it looks like the battery is fried.
But on the positive side. if you have the new one with you, pop it on you'll be fine

There's more than enough tools to do it under the seat (if of course, you have your toolkit under your seat)

try and bump start it ignition on, in gear clutch in push as fast as you can while on the bike (find a hill) drop clutch and see if it starts

or fit new battery

If its lost power whilst riding then it sounds like the charging system not (solely) the battery . Only chance (I think) is turning off all your lights , disconnect brake light switch if possible and use hand signals if you can get it started. Try bumping it or flagging a motorist to jump it.

Of course try and jump or bump start it, although shouldn't cut out while riding should it...?!

Datatool 3 is the devil...

OK,
Fit the new battery. Until you can disarm the imobiliser, there is no point in trying to bump start this bike as you'd need to have the motor spinning over long enough to turn on the electrics, disable the alarm, prime the FI system, and then fire the bike up.

That's an ask.

If a passing car has jump leads you'll be fine.

Ok update the ignition fuse has gone and replaced with another 10a like it wants blew it again ... Put in a 15 A and it blew again ... Help

Loom damaged or rubbing on seat mounting bolts and wires touching together or any other wires?
