Bloody Flickr again. I can see my photo's on my tablet & phone, but I can't log in using my Windows PC, just goes round in circles on the login, trying to create a new account, as they're changing the log in process away from Yahoo mail accounts

I always keep Two browsers handy in on my devices. One,"Chromium" based(Opera) and a Firefox one. When one doesn't work or is playing up the other usually works. Also I've found Imgur to be a great free image host,

I see this claimed frequently. Searching for Germany's export markets it keeps coming up that the UK is typically their 5th biggest market (2018 ) after USA, France, China and Netherlands. Even then, the UK represents only about 6% of their export trade value, so while we are a very significant market, they are not exactly heavily reliant on sales to us. Sure they wouldn't want to lose any but it'd have to be a big percentage drop to have significant impact.
Several of the other EU countries are not far behind.

I've also seen it said that the UK is BMW's biggest market. Again, according to https://www.statista.com/statistics/...-of-bmw-group/ the UK is fourth after USA, China and Germany, and the UK represents 9.6% of their sales. They certainly wouldn't want to lose all that market, but even if UK sales halved it would be manageable (compare to the reduced sales for VAG after dieselgate for example).

Totally baffled! I was a long term Resident Alien (Green card holder) in the US. Since I was out the US for more than 1 year I had to surrender the Green Card (form I-407). I have 401k pension money (I paid in and my company matched it, it's stock market linked). I had to fill out a W8-BEN form which, I thought, stopped me getting taxed by the US. It turns out that I must now fill in a form 8854 for the IRS, which is ok (well, not really) but it asks a yes/no question like this:

Did you become at birth a US citizen and a citizen of another country and do you continue to be a citizen of, and taxed as, a resident of that country?

My answer requires no and yes, I've never been a US citizen. If I get this wrong the IRS will tax me immediately at 30% and then I'll get taxed again by the UK, despite there being a tax treaty to prevent this. There are several similar ambiguous questions.

Edit: It turns out the IRS don't answer question on the 8854 form if you call them, so that helps. (WTF?) They refer you the helpful instructions for the form which don't mention a few of the sections...
Edit 2: I've given up and I'm consulting a professional tax filer (kerching).

Sometimes getting a pro to help you is just the easiest way. The reduced stress and worry will be worth it.

Being ill.

4 days into the virus that I carry in my system, it seems to flare up once or twice a year and totally floors me for a few days.

Sore throat, severe spinal pain, aching limbs but no runny nose, coughing or sneezing so it isn't a cold.

So far I've missed dinner with a friend I hardly get to see, a bike ride and the Nike Rodgers gig last night. Now very fed up.

I hope it passes soon. Illness always strikes at the most inconvenient time.

Actually this is more convenient than during the World Cup, last week's Test match or the forthcoming Ashes. Which may explain why I'm so wiped out. My body has chosen the only weekend I had free to go into meltdown.

Could be shingles LPH. I have had a couple of episodes with similar symptoms that completely wiped me out.
