Re: EU Referendum
I spent 20+ years working for the frogs. I know their interpretation of EU law is, if we like it we implement it. Otherwise, we ignore it. That is the problem with Britain, we implement the bad as well as the good.
We were conned all those years back. We joined a free trade organisation, a common market. We had no idea that there existed an agenda for a united states of europe. So if I go with my heart and that of most I talk to, OUT and leave the trap door open for others that also want out. Not until they can set and stick to a budget should anybody trust anything out of Brussels/Strasbourg. They cannot even make up their mind where to headquarters. Everybody wants yet few give.

Re: EU Referendum
In. The Brexit case is mainly built on dissatisfaction (as if those voting in are 100% happy), dodgy maths, bogeyman stories about the United States of Europe, and xenophobia. I read an article lately about how it is easy to look clever by criticising, much less so by being (relatively) happy about things.
Totally agree about the French, they plough their own furrow on many issues. |

The EU certainly has its down side but the idea that doing a flounce will either solve their problems or ours is ludicrous IMO. If we hadnt joined 40 years ago we might have ploughed a different furrow and things might be better now or worse, but we cant turn the clock back and pretend we can pick up where we left off back then.We made our bed then and we need to lay in it and make the most of it.

Re: EU Referendum
why was the EU referendum even brought to light?
i could be wrong but was it not over the EU wanting £50b from the UK due to us having 'good times'. now that they have sat round the camp fire and sang a few songs the Gov now want to stay in the EU. hmmmm i'm one of the very few rare people that is very pro Europe in as much as i would like to see a United States of Europe and a common currency. its Governments that make borders not the people. |

Re: EU Referendum
I think it was a rash election promise due to the rise of UKIP etc. which to be honest I thought was going to be a short-term thing anyway. Either Cameron is being honest in backing the remain camp, or he's wanting Brexit and is hoping people will either vote for it because they voted for the referendum in the first place, or will vote for it just because he's saying not to. That said every conversation seems to bring out new stories.

Re: EU Referendum
My biggest fear is if we leave the European Union we let the tories have an almost free reign. How scary is that.
