In-line fuel filter
Having trouble with the bike and want to fit an in-line fuel filter.
Anyone got any idea where I can get my hands on one? Cheers |

Re: In-line fuel filter
There's already a fuel filter where the fuel outlet to the tank is. You can, of course fit another one, but I'd be looking at identifying the problem more closely rather than adding extra bits
What are the symptoms? Jambo

Re: In-line fuel filter
Wont start with the choke on, runs on one cylinder, backfires sending 2 foot flames out of the back, then start jerking and jumping as if the cylinder is trying to fire up but wont.

You can get them from FLAPs or I've got one you can have buckshee. Planned to stick it on my Trumpet after cleaning out the tank but never got round to it.

Re: In-line fuel filter
Quote:
1) Has it ever run OK 2) How long has it been like this 3) Have any modifications to fuelling been made 4) Has it recently been worked on? In the mean time: 1) Check the front spark plug is clean and dry, water in the plug recess can cause awful running. 2) Check to see if the wiring loom has rubbed through the insulation and thus could short out: Around the headstock, around the bolts that hold on the riders seat, around the rear sub-frame (You will need to remove the rear plastics to do this). Hope this helps Jambo

Re: In-line fuel filter
not only that as, but take the plungers out and check for free running of the cable and that the plungers are not stuck

Re: In-line fuel filter
Well the choke on the SV is one cable that splits into 2 for the 2 carbs, while it might work on one it might be in a odd possition on another which will cause loads of problems, odd fueling and such. I had loads of problems and to it to Jambo's looked at it and didn't even occur to us until I swapped the carbs off. Then as if by magic, one snapped rear choke cable.
As TSM said servicing the cable helps, as it does need loobing, else oneday you will have a snapped off rusty one like I did. Last edited by Grinch; 11-08-08 at 02:32 PM. |
