Default Morning Crash

Got knocked of the SV this morning. Just filled her up and was turning right on a roundabout when a guy in a Mondeo didn't see me and ploughed straight into me at maybe 20-25mph. Sent me flying.

I'm alright but I have a very sore left arm and leg, particularly my knee. Bike is a bit messy. Nose cone is very broken and scratched, lost my left footpeg, gear lever and gear changer. Radiator is also bust I think as it emptied coolant everywhere.

I actually felt really sorry for the guy who hit me. He lives on my street and was rushing to hospital as he'd received a call to say his father, who has been ill for a long time, was dying. He's also a biker himself and was in a really bad state. It was kinda hard for me to be annoyed at him as it was obviously a genuine accident and he was probably in a bad way before he got into his car. I know he should have been looking but It could have been worse and I'm alright in the end.

Will post pics later.

Cheers

WB

Yeah, the bike will mend. As for the driver, he should have known better.

Glad you're ok.

You're going to have to handle this very carefully. If his dad pops it he could be genuinely crushed and not want to deal with stuff... then again he could milk that in an attempt to buy time/fob you off.
At least you know him/can get hold of him easily enough.
I assume you'll be following the proper avenues through insurance etc.

Make sure you get yourself properly checked out, especially your knee. I got knocked off a few years ago and didn't realise I'd damaged my cartilage until a scan sometime later. Had the op last year but wish I'd known sooner.

He's a genuine guy and had all his insurance docs in the car with him so don't think I'll have any trouble at all. He couldn't have been more apologetic if he tried.

Called my insurer and they're sorting it all out. I have to go to the docs as I can't lift my left arm above my shoulder and my knee is getting bigger.

My neighbour is a mechanic and saw my bike parked up on his way to work. He said its a write off so that'll be that then. I'll defo buy it back but I'll need to decide whether to rebuild or strip for parts and get a new one.
