Your fuel consumption does seem high. I sometimes commute from North Yorkshire into Leeds on a K4. It's a 100 mile round trip and a mix of straight, empty NSL A roads, country lanes and a bit of city stop-start.
I start with a full tank, refill when I get back home and usually pay between £10 and £10.50 a time - and that's at inflated £1.33 a litre country prices.

Your fuel figures are pretty much on a par with what I get from my K5. Mine is rarely ridden other than for pleasure so tends to get a relatively hard time, I'm sure we could both be a bit greener if we really wanted to.

It may not make a huge difference but also try (if you don't already) a different petrol station. Both my car & bike perform better (economically speaking) on certain brand fuels than others by up to 10%.

I asked the same question a while back and Bibio recommended shifting up at 8k revs. I think this made the biggest single improvement to my mpg.
Mine is a K5 too and people riding behind me tell me it reeks of fuel when I accelerate, so is overfuelling. To meet newer regs, the twinspark models probably don't overfuel like this, so give better mpg.

I usually go to sainsburys or esso. Sometimes a shell near me also.

I just filled up. Clock said 115 was flashing at me for about 15 miles. 14L exactly as it happens. I'll do my TPS in the morning. This could also explain why I'm fighting with my clutch all the time when slow in second. Power delivery seems uneven at about 20-25 mph and I often get and engine breaking effect going from second to third unless accelerating hard. We will see anyway!

I'm a sad git who keeps a spreadsheet of fuel and miles ridden. Commuting 12 miles each way on a congested A road and city, I got between 48 and 52 mpg depending on how enthusiastic I got on my overtaking/filtering. Mine's a naked K3. Always on supermarket fuel.

your fighting with your clutch as its a v-twin. mastering the throttle on a v-twin takes time and it sounds like your snatching at the throttle as your revs are to low. my tip for what its worth.. if your doing slow speed manoeuvres then slip the clutch at med-high revs while dragging the back brake and use the back brake as the throttle so to speak. it takes a while to master but once you learn then it will smooth your riding out considerably.

nope if anything you should have a smoother ride with less engine braking if the TPS is set high.
