Bled the front brake after replacing the seals and rubbers, then changed the fluid in the rear brake. (Never been changed since new, bad boy me) Then set about all cable change on my MTB, they were about 25 yrs old. Halfords will change the inners at a bikes first yearly service, why?

Probably because if they built it, it'll need doing!

Because they fit their bikes with the cheapest possible non-stainless cables that will have surface corrosion from moisture in the air after a few months and start to seize into the outers after a year or so. They will also replace them with the same sort of cables at the yearly service, so you'll need another service in the future. Saves about £1 max per cable not opting for decent stainless.

At the shop I work at we only fit stainless die drawn slick gear and brake cables.

Yes have fitted s/s and always do - as you say Adam creating a customer churn. Would not let H. them anywhere near my bikes.

To be honest I would have done the oil change AFTER the trackday. You've got it extremely hot then cold , then extremely hot etc. etc

No problem, you'll just have to book another one now

Agreed, though it really needed doing - not many miles in what was in there, but it had been in there a while, and was pretty grim.

Ah, in that case yeah you probably don't want to ride hard if it's full of ****/not going to do its job.

New springs front and rear on the DRZ. In true Suzuki fashion, soon the only remaining original parts will be the engine and chassis!

New front pads on the bike yesterday. Oddly one of the inner pads on 1 side was half the thickness of the other (hence the need for a change). The calliper & pistons are ok, no obvious signs of any underlying issue. I cleaned them up and re-torqued the disc bolts (floating set up) to make sure everything is aligned. Will see how this set go!
Thankfully pads are cheap at only £25 for the set (EBC).
