Can you guys please help??????!!!
Hi everyone,
I have been the happy owner of a K4 650S for a little over 2 years now. I had a chain that was fitted last April in a well known bike dealership in Batley W Yorks. They we supposed to put new sprockets on as well but nothing I ordered turned up in time to go to the TT so P****** fitted a chain to make do. Long story short after the TT I barely used the bike for the rest of the year...I was bike'd out for the TT!! Unbeliveable eh! I had it out last month for a ride and was doing about 30 mph when the chain broke - the chain was in good nick - correct tension and had been oiled before the bike was ridden. The resultant damage was the following items need replacing : 1 x Hugger / Chain Guard 1 x Scottoiler 1 x Chain + Sprockets 1 x Undertray 1 x Gear selector shaft thingie (correct name?? ) The most pressing problem except all of the waffle above is...when the chain broke it took out (now in about 3 or 4 bits), the long thin shaft that connects the gear selector pedal into the gearbox resulting in a little bit of the shaft left in the gearbox. Can anyone advise of the amount of work required to retreive and repair said piece of equipment. Would it be worth stripping and or removing that side of the engine to repair or spend on a new engine??? Alll your thoughts comments etc are all gratefully received however big or small... I could do with the help of your collective brains!!! Thanks in Advance...oh and sorry for waffling! |

If you get a new engine, can I have the crank?
I'm not exactly sure about this, can have a look at my spare lump later, but IIRC the shaft is part of the drum, so it's a splitting the cases job, which is expensive
