its different in Scotland as our laws are different. our notes are an IOU.

All banknotes are promisory notes.

"Promise to pay the bearer" I think the wording is.

Yeah I thought that. But I've barely seen an actual banknote for years!

https://www.theguardian.com/politics...ence-banknotes

Scotlands sterling banknotes are allowed courtesy of an agreement with bank of England, three banks are allowed to print them. A country with a GDP about the same as one English county may not fare well if they have to issue their own currency especially now oil revenues are falling and new oilfields getting harder to find and harder to drill and exploit.

Since when did common sense come into it? I thought it was all about independence and national pride and taking back control...

UK is the 5th largest economy and a major military power, we can indulge in taking back control ( should never have lost it ) and national pride, the minnows of this world have limited choices...

Sorry that sounds a lot like you just said:

We're big so we can afford to ignore common sense.

All kicking off at westminster, Corbyn seeks to duplicate 1922 committee by calling vote of no confidence in Treeza. Should be no confidence in govt. Corbyn is a feckless numpty.

Laugh away, it does not change the facts that UK is #6 out of 136 and an independent Scotland would hardly appear on the list, especially when rest of UK take their nuclear bases, conventional bases, shipbuilding and other weapons out of Scotland, NATO relies on nuclear power to keep peace, so Scotlands ( well SNP anyway ) seeming hatred of nuclear would not impress them..

Just a stunt to embarrass tories, but he ended up embarrassing himself, result of any vote of confidence in Mother Theresa is not binding and Corbyn knows that calling a vote of no confidence in the government ( as opposed to just Theresa May ) may result in a general election ( but I doubt any tory MP or DUP MP would vote against Conservatives, so tories would not lose vote) and because Labour contradict themselves daily on what their policies are on Brexit Labour have lost much of their core vote and he could lose big time...
