Default Coolant Leak

Good Morning Folks,

This morning got to work and once I parked the bike up, coolant started leaking from the pipe circled in the picture. Can anyone hazzard a guess as to why this has happened?

I recently serviced the bike, but all has been fine for over a week now, so unsure as to why this has just happend.

Thanks in advance.

if you had just serviced it you probably had air left in the system - looks as though the air has escaped through the overflow - have you checked the coolant level since?

Just tried to have a gander at the coolant levels, but can't see if the level is ok or not due to the discoloration of the container. I have spoke to a local bike shop about it, and wondered if worst case all the coolant had leaked out - would I be about to drive the bike 5 minutes literally around the corner to drop it off.

Hi Husky, I cannot hear/feel the coolant swishing about, so does that means it's totally empty and not rideable for about 500mtrs.

Just got back from the local mechanic...and he checked the bike over and saw that it was just filled up too much.

No other tell tale signs of leaking elsewhere, so that's a little relief - All he said was to keep an eye just to make sure it isn't leaking from anywhere around the engine.

Thanks for your replies.

That pipe is the overflow from the coolant header tank, (and the filler well drain), if the system is overfilled that's where the excess will emerge from - as you've recently learned.

Yup just overfilled, nothing to worry about, don't do it again cos coolant is slippy.
