Default Instrument panel LEDs - curvy

Over the last couple of years I've been trying to find some LEDs to fit the instrument panel and idiot lights on my 2000 curvy S. I now have three sets of them, none of which actually fit. I'm wondering whether they need some sort of an adaptor/convertor.
If you look at the picture you will see I have circled the middle section of all three types of LED I have so far acquired. When they are plugged into the holders the circled section forces the holder to expand sufficiently that it will no longer fit back into place.

Has anyone fitted LEDs to the instrument panel and idiot lights and if so, did they just work as a direct replacement for the original bulbs?

Google ultra leds.
Put a partial set in the yellow one and they were good. I found its trial and error as some have to the older style for the safety circuits

Thanks for that guys.
Mauler, any chance you still have part numbers and name of supplier for those LEDs please?

Andrew, just looked at Ultra LEDs but I'm now unsure about exactly what I need to order!

Thanks Lance, just ordered some. Couldn't find what I wanted on any of the GB suppliers sites so got some coming from an American supplier.

Ok Thanks Mauler. I'll see what the ones I've ordered are like when they arrive and if they're not right I'll come back to your links.
