Default NC's Black Mountains (image heavy)

My trip to Black Mountains earlier this month.

The Black Mountains as they are known, are the highest region of the Appalchian Mountains, located in the western section of the state of North Carolina, USA.
The highest peak is at Mount Mitchell. 6684 ft.

The SV and the Black Mountains:
No comments on the cheesy souvenir pins on the tankbag.
I picked up about a dozen or so more from various different locations on this trip
and it now looks a tad better, with more on it.

Most of the trip was on the Blue Ridge Parkway, part of the National Park system. The "BRP" is a 469 mile road through the southern appalachians mostly passing through National Forests.

At 5000 ft. the terrain turns from the lush green hardwood forests of the lower elevations to a forest of evergreens and firs.
Beautiful views from a distance but very rugged country close up.

Above 5000 ft on the "BRP".

View from switchback climbing Mt. Mitchell

Steep ridges on the way to the top.

View from the top of Mount Mitchell.
They say above 6000 ft...
The plants, animals and weather here are more like that in Canada rather than anwhere else in America.
Average snowfall is 108 inches and winds often reach hurricane force.
Fortunately the weather was somewhat more pleasent on this trip.

zooming in on some bikes on the mountain

Tourists at the top.

AC Cobra in the restuarant carpark on the way down the mountain.

Mt. Mitchell viewed from the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way back.

Smoke break

Southern entrance to the "Twin Tunnels" on the "BRP".

Little Switzerland is a small village located right off the Parkway, on top of a mountain ridge.
Tis' the place I often stay when in this area.

Mountain view from 226-A

Tunnel at Little Switzerland on the BRP.

More 6000 ft. Heights at Grandfather Mountain on the BRP on the trip back to Virginia.

Leaving the high mountains and dense forests and coming back down into farm country on the way home.

Flawless, but regular US models (vs. the rare high altitude ones) don't have any problems up to ...er...12,000 ft. I believe it is.
Would have to be out in Colorado (the rocky mtns.) for such heights.
Carb (or FI) problems here are nearly unheard of if they've ever been set up properly.
And I don't know why..... but even in the coldest, dampest, etc, etc. weather we have no carb icing.
And US models have no carb heaters.....
