Default I need a cigarette...

So Blueflame is lying on the pavement with Mertian supporting his back, cos it's f***d, I am trying to shield his face from the rain and support his head and neck and he starts 'I need a fag man' so the nice car driver who stopped, lights up and holds it to his lips - the ambulance then arrives, the cigarette disappears and the paramedic takes one look at him and says 'you look like you need some oxygen...' If I wasn't so worried about the boy I would have p***d myself laughing.

Rewind about an hour. Myself, Mertian, Blueflame & Cronos are heading down to Windermere for the weekend. Cronos is MIA cos the service on his Blackbird took too long so he was going to catch up. The rest of us meet up and head out. Blueflame is lagging (tut tut) so I slow the pace and when we get to Galashiels, it turns out that the old 'wet front spark plug thingy-me-bob action' has happened and he is only firing on one cylinder so we take it to bits and WD40 the crap out of it. Sorted.

We carry on taking an easy pace but trying to make up some time. Just past some road works go round a corner, over a bridge and into some twisties but can't see the guysbehind me so I slow down. When I get to the end of a long straight there is still no sight of them so I stop and wait. They don't appear so I turn back, thinking Grant's bike is playing up again. When I get back to them I see both bikes and Martin but no Grant. Then when I stop I see that Martin is holding Grant, supporting his back. Apparently the cylinder started missing just as he went into the corner and then surged on and he lost control and went down.

He is in the Borders General Hospital with a static fracture on one vertabra in his back which is completely stable, they had him roll over so that seems to be ok. His wrist is pretty bad and will need surgery tomorrow. They said we should phone at about 9am to get an update. Will give an update when I can.

Bloody 'ell. That's bad news. Another Ecosse Posse member bites the tarmac.

Give the big man my wishes for a speedy recovery. Good to hear the injuries were not as serious as they might have been.

Funnily enough I've been getting surging a lot since the winter lay-off. I should have been heading north today but decided against it as I'm just not happy with the way it's behaving.

scooby, thanks for that, keep us informed

we can organise the next rideout down to Borders General with some fags and tinnies, he'd like that

Glad that he's not too bad, especially where the back/spine is concerned

Is his bike wrecked ?

Does he need it recovered ?

If so, I could try and organize something with the lads/yourselves etc
