Re: Numb Bum fix?
I bought a silicone strap on seat pad years ago, it was comfortable but it was too unstable . Have thought about having it incorporated into the seat but not sure whether it would be successful or not

Or gluing some rubber sheet to the underneath of the Gel-Seat pad to give it more grip. What I have noticed over the years is if I stop being lazy on my exercise and more walking and cycling routine and therefore tighter glutes= less Numb bum. I only get it after about several hours out riding.

Re: Numb Bum fix?
I have found if you haven't ridden a bicycle for a long time your backside takes time to toughen up to riding again. I wonder if the SV650A saddle experience might be like that !

Re: Numb Bum fix?
Avoid long straight roads when possible so you move around more. Padded cycling shorts (even cheap ones from Decathlon) work well.

Re: Numb Bum fix?
All good stuff. Could buy a cheap 2nd hand rider seat and put some Velcro on it and the padded seat/cover for long journeys or commuting to make it more stable and then keep the original for cosmetics
FYI: I've changed my Seat Cap Screws/Allen bolts for stock Hex bolts and can take it off with my Hinged Factory Spark-Plug spanners back-end

Re: Numb Bum fix?
Anyone uses one of the air type? The silicone pad one is not very stable - are these better?

Re: Numb Bum fix?
any pad will move about if its not strapped down properly. if you cant get on with a gell one there is no way you will get on with an air one as your bum moves about due to the 'air cushion'. they are a bit weird at first but you soon get used to them. great on rough roads
personally it does not bother me. the air one is superb and less numb bum. due to having clogged common iliac artery's where they split from the aorta my legs/bum gets numb very quickly so i have to stop every 40 odd miles but the air pad does help loads. |

Re: Numb Bum fix?
I have a Gel seat, it's generally okay but when covering hundreds of miles it gets a bit sore, got to say my knees and shoulders go before **** though. I went round France with a cushion on the seat which was fine until you hung off the bike , had to catch it on at least one occasion.
It doesn't sound comfortable
