fork damper tube retaining bolt
I took the forks apart on my 2006 SV650s and now have a weep of oil coming from the bottom of one fork. It must be from the damper tube retaining bolt and I wondered what its sealed with - is it a copper washer or a gasket as my manual says?
Tightening it hasnt worked so I guess the fork leg has got to come out again |

Re: fork damper tube retaining bolt
I think it's a copper washer. You might need to anneal it once you've got it out, this will soften it to make a better seal, or just buy a new one.

Re: fork damper tube retaining bolt
Thanks, I thought that was likely but wondered why the manual says gasket - probably got mixed up in translation...

Re: fork damper tube retaining bolt
Not necessarily mixed up in translation, gaskets can be made of copper too.
