Default SV maintenance costs?

I'm planning on getting an SV at some point when I've done my das. What sort of regular maintenance do they require over and above oil, filters, coolant etc. Are there any horrendously expensive major services.? Dom

servicing is pretty much the same as the other big 3 japenese brands, except suzuki service intervals are shorter,by about 3 to 1(3 times more often that is)

Sorry I'm not well versed in motorbike service intervals, unless I'm putting lots of miles annually on it what would be the intervals?

3500-4000 oil and filter (do yourself for £20), 7500 oil filter and spark plugs (do yourself for £27 - £34 depending on how many plugs your bike has), 11000-11500 oil and filter (do yourself for £20), 15000 oil filter possible air filter and valve clearances, costs £300-£400 at a dealer or garage although you can do it yourself if you feel up to it.

Buy a Haynes Manual, these are listed in it as well as how to do it.

That's not quite right.
Compared with say a Fazer 8, the Yamaha has a service interval of 10,000km and the SV 6,000km. (6,000 miles and about 3,750)

But don't get me started. Why do NGK spark plugs last longer in a Honda or Yamaha block than they do in a Suzuki? Why do nuts and bolts need more checking on some makes than others? Why would an air filter block more readily?

Plugs dont last any different between models. TBH the simple process of removing and inspecting the plug is just as important as changing it. Ive seen bikes come in for servicing that have never had the plug removed to be inspected and its rusted heavily making removal more difficult.

Air filters will get dirty quicker if your riding alot in town where the air is much more dirty and when riding in poor weather.

Valve timing is fixed as such and not a service procedure, valve clearances are.
