Hmm depends. It could be two things (that I can think of)

  1. The 15th is the pay date. So when you get paid, you will be paid up to the 15th.
  2. The 15th is the cutoff day for processing timesheets / overtime in order to be in the payroll for that month. i.e. any overtime worked up to 15th of March will be in the March payroll along with your basic pay for the whole of March.

I tend to think the second option above is most likely, but without seeing your terms and conditions cannot say for sure. Sounds like HR are doing a very poor job on this. What does the union rep say?

Did you not get told/ask aboutthe revised pay system when you applied for the new job? I'm kind of assuming this is a promotion you've got...

I can't see how you'd only get paid for four days at the end of March? My understanding of the monthly pay system ( or at least the way it works for me) is that at the end of March you'll get paid a full month's basic salary, (for March) and then at the end of April you get another full month's basic salary plus any unsocial hours or overtime done in March.

The cut off date (15th) that you've been given is to process payment for overtime/unsocial hours.

At least this is how it works for me and all other monthly paid people I know.

we have a cut off of the 15th. Its the last day for getting any stuff they need to process in. Then we get paid on the 21st. They are supposed to have a second run( for the stuff they may have guffed up in the first place which they usually do)and pay again on the 28th but they rarely do it for you and you have to wait til the month after....the only reason for waiting is because they give you some BS excuse for not being bothered to help you!

That's only for overtimer/bonus/etc though I presume Dizzy - you will still get paid your basic in month; ie 21st Feb is pay for work in Feb.

We work a fortnight in arrears, a fortnight in advance, so the only thing people wait for is their overtime as it lacks a month behind.

Senior execs at my co get paid quarterly. that way there are only a few paid directly out of head office and only the one person who authorise their salary transfer to thier bermuda banks knows what they are earning
