1999 Curvy broken clutch plates
Hi
Just looking for some thoughts. My wifes SV has been getting harder and harder to get into neutral. Stripped and cleaned and adjusted the lever and pushrod on the LH side. Made no difference. So, took life in hands and ordered bits to strip the clutch. Glad I did because only two of the friction plates were intact. The rest had broken and were free floating. Any idea what might have caused this? And it any idea then what should she do to prevent this happening again? Also when I looked at the centre part of the clutch the fingers (sorry for non-technical) were pitted so that running a screw driver over them was like running across a ploughed field. So, new clutch middle bit is on way from eBay. Anything else I should look out for? Thanks |
