I picked this up to repair the other OM1n which just needed a shutter speed ring. This was listed as having prism issues and low speeds not working, but part from the prism it seems in good nick. The lens will need stripping and cleaning but is fungus free. It will need a new prism and a good clean but otherwise ok. Not sure whether to fix this or the OM1n.

Is it the prism or focusing screen?

Its the prism. Olympus fitted a foam seal to the top of it and it degrades over time and takes the silvering with it.

You can get spray-on silver mirror, seen it somewhere, it works fine for reflection from the inside of the glass (like this) but not for reflection from a front-silvered mirror (like the whole or half-silvered ones in rangefinders). Dunno if it would be good enough for a camera but could be worth a try.

Might be worth a look, either that or take the prism out of the om1n if its any good. Not sure what to do as I don't want to end up with loads of OM1s trying to fix the previous one!

Nice job. Was the solution to do a switch from one of one of your donor OMs?

Good to know that the OM10 fits. How's the unpacking and organising going?
