Default West Mercia Police "Take Control"

going on a rideout tomorrow with the West Mercia polis (say it with a jock accent!). It's their "Take Control" scheme, for newbies and born agains (and anybody who fancies it, I suppose). They'll take you out all day and impart their knowledge and wisdom about all sorts of stuff, apparently. Looking forward to it, especially through twisty bits and filtering. Anybody been on one of these?

Sounds fun!!! Do they insist on sticking to NSL?? Make the most of it - WMP has a 20% reduction in funding over the next few years. The education programmes are almost certainly going to get the chop.

Think west mercia are badly affected take a look at west midlands mate they are set to suffer the 2nd biggest cuts accross the UK. There may be little impact on the service the public receive in small market towns but see how inner city birmingham and such rougher places like sunny wolverhampton suffer.

Any how if theres less pounds to spend theres less unmarked traffic cars to catch you out

Well Tony phoned this morning to cancel today, he was very sick. Re-booked for another day. A bit disappointed, but decided to have a ride out anyway. Went to the Ponderosa and had a nice cuppa coffee (very nice folk, first time there for me). Then called in on a close friend on the way home. Managed to avoid the rain until travelling home on the A41 at Tern Hill. Hate the Bloody rain, very under confident in the wet. But survived and gained a little confidence. Absolutely love my bike, it's awsome.

The only way to gain confidence in the rain is to ride in the rain.

Sounds obvious and to some, the very idea is abhorent, but it's a skill you need.

Pick a sh1tty, wet day and go play out. You'll be amazed how well you get on. Stick to decent roads rather than lanes for the first time and concentrate on being smooooooth.

Don't stay out long enough to get cold, or plan a cafe into your ride.

Ask Luckypants about riding in the rain back from Cad West. It a fun skill to master.

When I went to Knockhill last year, it ended up only me and one other on the bikes and the rest decided they couldn't ride in the rain and wind. I personally think it was the best thing I ever did as I had never ridden in weather like that before!

Get on and do it, otherwise if you are caught unawares you may freak!

the worse thing for me when the rain is comin down bad, is the visor steams up very quickly, must get pin-lock visor, and the pain you feel when riding with the visor open in the rain, makes your face tingle a bit :P

See when you say stuff like that, it makes me worried. What did I do wrong this time?

I would agree...I would hardly describe a tingle as pain....
