Yo. The Symbolica was an easy-to-use version of the Contessa/Contina rangefinder/viewfinder cameras, at the time when photography was becoming much more accessible to the hoi polloi. Not sure how it chooses shutter speed and aperture, many Contessas use the same type of metering but you have the dials as well. The filter looks like it needs a damn good clean, and the viewfinder too. The Tessar lens is great though, even wide open, but best at f5.6 or more. Good that you have a case, this is really the only reason the light meter still works, they don't like being exposed to light!

Item 401119985733 on fleabay, Olympus XA2, 1 bid but at 95p so well worth a look.

Re. Poundland film, they don't all keep it, it's worth calling up first to save a trip. There are two in Donny but only one of them does (town centre one). Where I have seen it, they have always had shedloads on the shelf. It seems a good film, I used Fuji Superia 400 in the last SLR I used but mainly because it had a high top shutter speed and I had a roll left. 7dayshop are good but you have to keep looking as their offers change from time to time.

Got an XA3 and they are great little cameras. The 2 just lacks dx reading. Slip straight in the pocket.

There was a Praktica camera with a couple of lenses but I know the guy would want too much for it. Plus I try to avoid buying for the sake if it. (except if a Trip 35 comes up for a pound!)

LTL 3 was the first SLR I bought. Metal shutter and quite a good lens. It was heavy but the pics it took were fine.

I had tried film photography before. I had an OM10 but I wasn't as confident then so I sold it. Wish I had kept it. Also, my wife's grandad gave me a load of film gear to keep or sell. Sold it. Big mistake.
