Question HELP....more tyre woes!!!!

Hi guys,
ive been wondering what tyres to put on my curvy svs for a while but a failed mot and 2 nails are forcing me to think quick.
My sv is my only mode of transport so im out in all weathers including the commute to work, but i also use her for weekend fun so dont want any that takes ages to warm up.

Any suggestions on the best suited tyres would be deeply appreciated
Thanks in advance
Wes

If it's commuting and pleasure riding then some kind of Sports Touring rubber is needed IMO.

I am really happy with my Avon Storms, BT-021 seems to be getting good press to. Both of these are Sports Touring tyres.

I couldnt fault Metzeler Z6 on my curvy..

was like goin from ice skates to trainin shoes.

just my opinion not to undermine any other-

tyres are very subjective.

do a search on here-- but get a coffee and a chair its been discussed to death

Thanks for your help Lucky Pants and Quiff , will have a look at the tyres you have suggested. One more thing, I am thinking of doing my first track day at Brands this year, will they be okay?

The Pirelli Diablo Stradas (same as the Metzler Roadtec Z6) I had on my 2001 ZX6R allowed me to scrape the pegs on track at Lydden in August 2006, and I changed them having got over 11,000 miles to the set. Modern touring rubber is superb, and won't be a problem on track untill you're taking it very seriously.

Current crop are: Bridgestone BT021, Pirelli Diablo Strada, Metzler Roadtec Z6, Avon Storm ST, Michelin Pilot Road 2, Dunlop Roadsmart.

All have recieved good press from those on here

That the sort of list that need to be put into a sticky thread at the top of a particular forum.

I need new tyres and had been trying to look through all the threads for ages.

A definitive list of what is recommended like that helps wonders.

Trouble is that its so subjective. What one person likes another will probably hate.

Example

I hate Bridgestone 014's I dont like they way the wear really quickly, they square off fast, they dont work well when its cold and wet, they feel wooden and dont inspire confidence.

Yet I know theres people on the Gixerjunkies forum that run the same tyres on the same bike and love them to pieces and wont use anything else.

Tyre choice is easy, its when you take to much time and read to much stuff you get all confused. Just go your local tyre place and ask them what they recommend, get them to fit them and off you go.

I'd never recommend tyres, I just tend to say I had tyre brand x and I thought y about them.

For what its worth, I'd agree about the Metzler Z6's personally I cant find any fault with them.

But I'll have a chat with the other mods about getting a sticky sorted out.

.

If they are like my 0-15's i will back up those comments 100%. in the cold and wet they dont get to tep and do not inspire much confidence really.

BUT in thw war,m and dry my 0-15's are the fastest warming tyres i have had to date and very sticky and very confidence inspiring.

But they are squaring off a bit now after onlt 1700 mile, that said i do like the throttle open a lot
