Engine temp - sanity check
Normal running on a cool day has the bike at 75.
Around town it seems to rise and peak around 95. Today(hot day) it hit 102. I can't hear the fan on - maybe it's quiet? Is this normal and if not what's to check? |

Totally normal the fan will kick in somewhere between a displayed 100 and 110 if I remember correctly it's slightly different on each bike.

Re: Engine temp - sanity check
In the summer months and in 'normal' riding, my K6 constantly cycles from 79C up to 89/90, then back to 79C.
When pushing on a bit and in ambient temps above 20C, the coolant temp will stay a bit higher, say 82/83 to early 90s. I'm not usually in town traffic for any great length of time but I've seen the readout hit late 90s when stopped and idling for a while. |

Re: Engine temp - sanity check
Mine cycles 80-94C normally. Fan kicks in just over 100C and today could barely get the temperature down.

Re: Engine temp - sanity check
Mine usually runs 75C - 79C unless im in traffic, it will get up to 105C and then the fan comes on to reduce to around 90C

Re: Engine temp - sanity check
IIRC pointies run cooler than curvies but both have the fan cut in around the 105-110 range.

Re: Engine temp - sanity check
Sounds normal to me, just check your fluid levels in the expansion bottle if you haven't done so already.
If their good - forget about worrying, if their low - top up then forget about worrying. Too damn hot to be worrying about shizz.
