Setting fork oil air gap - SV650.org

Sorry for posting this, and I'm sure its been covered loads but the search function isn't much cop with 3 letter words!

I've got the forks of my K4 pointy apart, ready for some Hagon's to go in.

I thought the air gap was set without springs, but the Hagon instructions imply that you set it with the springs in.

The gap on them at the moment is 64mm WITH the springs in, from factory.

What gap should I use, and how should I measure it?!

Just checked the otherside, and without spring its 108mm.

Also, where can I find the torque settings for putting it back together?

Yup about there without springs. Be sure to either let it stand a while and pump the leg up and down to get as much air as you can out of it.

Haynes manual for torque settings but they're not that critical

Fork oil air gap is set with the springs out, and the fork vertical, and fully compressed, measured from the top of the fork tube, to the surface of the oil. Then you extend the fork again and throw the spring, washer, spacer and fork cap back on.

Thanks for the help. I went for the 95mm that Hagon specify set without springs, fully compressed.

All back together. Was suprisingly quite a simple job, even without a proper stand.

Went for a quick ride, feels better. Smoother and less dive. Will set sag sooner or later!
