Switzerland has negotiated a "deal" or rather a series of ten of them.
Treeza's infamous "red lines" mean the UK can't have have the same relationship with the EU which Switzerland enjoys.

And in any case, it could be argued that Switzerland does in fact have a hard border.

The EU didn't ask us to leave, as far as I remember it was the other way round.

My guess would be the EU27 would prefer the current arrangements to continue.

England and Wales have voted to leave the EU, so if Brexit goes ahead its only right England and Wales should be made to pay.

not really why should we do anything just leave it completely unnecessary having a hard border.(edited to hard border didn't mean no border)

How do we "take back control" of our borders if we dont have a border?

Can't beat a well reasoned argument.

The need for a border comes from the difference in tax and regulation regimes between the two countries.

Within the EU the regulations have been (mostly) harmonized and the members have agreed to free movement of goods between countries. So at the moment a truck can drive from London to Berlin without stopping for customs. There is also free movement of EU nationals and the right to work in other countries and be treated the same as the locals.

When we leave the EU that all changes. Both sides are entitled to levy duty on goods passing over the border and confirm that goods meet their regulations. They can also deny entry to people. In theory that means re-instating border posts and passport checks across Ireland, and at the Channel ports & Eurotunnel.

It'll be lovely, the "New IRA" which is not to be confused with the provisional, actual, real, continuity and I can'y believe it's not the IRA. Have already claimed responsibility for a car bomb or two.
