Default Not as bad as it sounds...

Ok, so a few weeks ago a hedgehog crawled into the garden and died.
When I was young I was an avid collector of skulls (I only ever collected them when the animal no longer needed it) so I thought I'd see if I could get a nice example of a hedgehog skull.
I put the dead hedgehog onto one of the veg plots and put a heavy clay flowerpot upturned on it. The idea was that the hole in the top would allow flies etc in to lay eggs but would also contain a lot of the bad smell. This seemed to work.

A week or so later I lifted the flowerpot to find that there was hardly any smell and most of the flesh had gone, leaving spines (expected) and skin (a bit unexpected). So the question is what do do now.
I think the options are:

Cut off head
Put in container of water and leave under flowerpot again - hopefully that would part the flesh and bone

or

Cut off head
Boil in saucepan of water until flesh comes off

And I guess put it in bleach to make it look white, as well as killing off any nasty bacteria etc.

I'm not that keen on the head cutting bit but could probably manage that with a spade or suchlike, but boiling head sounds rather disgusting (Constanze worried about her saucepans so could this be done and complete one Wednesday evening when she's at yoga?) and probably rather smelly.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks...

A freind is a biologist and we did the same with a fox skull because he wanted it. We hacked off its head with the side of an axe like a spade, the windpipe was like a rubber hose! So i think a hedgehog would be a fair bit easier to decapitate. We read online the same tips as you, hes left it in a bucket of water with bio washing powder to remove as much flesh as possible, then itll get bleached up shortly..

Boiling would work but could be smelly, increasing your chances of detection.

If you're not in a hurry try the immersion in water but I'd be tempted to let the maggots finish their work - you may still have internal tissue and brains that need to be dealt with.

You should also give some thought to how you're going to dispose of the rest of your victim...sorry, I mean "hedgehog".

Don't forget to thoroughly burn its clothes and wallet.

Hope that helps.

Searched for "hedgehog guillotine"
Not sure if google misunderstood or understood TOO well.
